OPTOMETRIST | GLAUCOMA, RETINA & OCULAR SURFACE DISEASE | ADVANCED LASER PROCEDURES
GET TO KNOW DR. BLAKE
Dr. Blake Williams is a fifth-generation East Texan, born and raised in Lufkin, with family roots in the region dating back to the late 1800s. He is the proud great-great-great grandson of former Texas State Representative Joe Thomas.
Blake graduated in the top 1 percent of his class at Lufkin High School, where he also earned All-District honors in District 15 5A baseball. That success on the field carried into college, where he was recruited to play baseball under Coach Jim Shelton at Southwestern University and earned a spot on the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team. After the 2008 season, he transferred to Texas Christian University, majoring in Biology and Chemistry.
Doctoral Training in Glaucoma, Retina, and Ocular Surface Disease
During his four years of doctoral training, Dr. Williams received extensive clinical experience in glaucoma, retinal disease, and ocular surface disease (including dry eye), completing rotations through the VA Hospital System in Orlando, Florida, Bond-Wroten Eye, and outpatient clinics in San Antonio. He earned his Doctor of Optometry in 2014.
Serving East Texas Patients
After graduation, Dr. Williams was recruited back to his home region, where he has spent his career serving patients throughout Longview, Carthage, Marshall, and Henderson.
His Approach to Eye Care
One of Dr. Williams' favorite quotes comes from John Maxwell:
"What is a dream? A dream is an inspiring picture of the future, that energizes you to do everything you possibly can to achieve it. You know it's your dream when you start betting on yourself and begin to take ownership."
That philosophy shapes how Blake approaches both his career and his patients. He views optometry as a path to add lasting value, build lifelong relationships, and improve quality of life for East Texans, rooted in transformational leadership, servanthood, and genuine intentionality. For Dr. Williams, few things compare to the privilege of positively impacting a patient's life through the gift of sight.
