How To Guide

Applying and Removing Soft Contact Lenses

Applying Contacts:

1. Wash and dry your hands

2. Place the contact lens on the index finger of your dominant hand (bowl shape up)

3. Look at the lens for any fibers or tears

4. Using your non-dominant hand, hold your upper lid by grabbing at the base of your lashes and resting it against your brow bone

5. Pull down your lower lid using the middle finger of your dominant hand

6. Place the contact on your eye by looking at the contact as you place it on your cornea

7. Slowly release your eye lids and gently close your eyes to let the lens settle on your eye

8. Pour out the solution from your case and let the case air dry

Removing Contacts:

1. Wash and dry your hands

2. Look up and pull down the lower lid with the middle finger of your dominant hand

3. Use your index finger to pull the lens down or to the outside corner of your eye

4. Use your index finger and thumb to gently pinch the lens off your eye

5. Place the lens in the palm of your hand to rub and clean the lens with solution

6. Place the contact in your lens case with new solution

Contact Lens Tips

  • Wash & dry hands before applying or removing your contacts.
  • Never use tap water or saliva to clean or re-wet your lenses.
  • Store your contacts in new solution every night.
  • Don’t “Top Off” your solution: do not store your contacts in the same solution every night, or add new solution to the old solution in your case.
  • Taco Test! If your lens does not roll up like a taco shell, then it is inside out… Apply solution to the lens and reverse it.
  • If your eye becomes red or irritated, remove your contact lens and contact:
