Eye Disorders: Astigmatism
Astigmatism is a condition that exists when an eye has an out-of-round shape. A normal eye has a spherical shape similar to a golf ball. In astigmatism, the cornea or lens is not spherical, but oval like an egg. Astigmatism causes the eye to focus light at many points instead of at a single point, and is frequently found in association with myopia or hyperopia.
